Been a busy, busy bee already today. We got up and pretty much finished the rest of our orientation, so now the fun should really being. Last night we all went out (minus one girl and the program staff). It was fun, I think we are probably going to stick with the local pub called “The Black Smiths”. The people there are really nice and it’s got a great atmosphere. We were all having some fun. ^.^
After orientation today we went and got a lunched and got on the bus. Yes, I have officially survived my first trip on a European bus. We have our house trips pretty much nailed down so now we are going through with our new planners and adding/planning our own trips.
Our first stop on the bus was a place called Craigmiller Castle. It was a castle ruin just outside Dalkeith. I officially have found us a castle to live in…it needs a few things…like a roof in some areas but I think we can fix that easily.
Here I am at where the guards would stand. On the other side of the wall there is an open court yard thing. This castle just kept going! I thought I was done and then there would be another room or stair case or something. They had the old wine cellar and a few bedrooms, it seemed like 12 kitchens. I can officially say that I ate lunch in the shadows of a castle. Don’t hate me please!
After Craigmiller we went into Edinburgh and got left lol. Well the staff took us there and then wanted us to find our way back (we had directions) so we could gain more confidence. Theresa, Paige, Aaron and I went to the Royal Mile and went in this really cool kilt shop. The guy in there was beyond great, he looked for all of our family tartans and explained a lot to us. I thought it was really nice of him because he didn’t have to go out of his way to explain as much as he did.
Then after we walked a bit we went into this really cool cathedral, unfortunately I couldn’t take
Pictures inside but we may go back tomorrow and split the cost and share the pictures. I think it will really be worth it. I am planning on getting the first of my post cards out tomorrow, so if you haven’t gotten my your address try and do that in the next few days.
