Roslyn, Celtic Fest, Car Boot, Rugby and Batman

Where are all of my Da Vinci Code people? Took a short little jaunt on the bus yesterday to visit Roslyn Chapel. Wow. The work that has been done in this chapel is amazing. And to thin all this little detal was done BY HAND. And it really is detailed. There are two pillars are the font of the chapel the “masons pillar” and the “apprentice pillar” I can honestly say that I have fallen in love with the apprentice pillar.

I did not find the pond which saddened me a great deal. I wanted to try ant walk on water lol. We actually do not know if the pond is on the grounds or if that scene was shot elsewhere because we had limited access to the grounds. About twenty years ago they added a metal “roof” over the chapel so that it could try out and they would have a better chance of restoring it. As of Friday of last week, the roof has officially done its job.

We explored around Roslyn and actually got to go out to the old castle ruins that are a little ways off.

Here it is as we were coming up on it. Over the wall you see up close in the picture is about a 30-40 foot drop down, the other side if basically a cliff. It was really cool to be up there and just look out, the landscaping was amazing.

While we were in that gave yard, I found bunny. He’s so cute I just had to include him!

Thursday was another kind of boring day, we had classes all day so no one really left the House until later at night, then we all ventured down the road to a little pub called Maysons. Theresa and I officially have a pub ^.^ We had a really nice long chat with these guys Mike and David about music and the people that frequent the pub. Basically we were told that if we want to go out anywhere else, we need to stop into Maysons firsts, and then if we get into “trouble” come back and we would have ‘backup’ :p it was a very fun conversation with two men that asked “you can understand me right” every ten minutes or so.

Friday was a day of adventure. Seth (one of staff members here) took us into Edinburgh to get football and rugby jerseys. Then we was a doll and took them back for us so we didn’t have to carry them around with us for the rest of the day. We ate at this little Chinese buffet inside the Omni Center, where the movie theatre is located.

After lunch three of the girls we were with went to see Sex in the City 2 while Aaron and I walked around the city. We went up to this place called Carton Hill. The view of the city was amazing, not counting all of the monuments that where up there.

Saturday we went to a local community college for this Celtic Fest. I would love to go to community college here apparently, it is an old abbey. Original garden and all. I had this amazing pork sandwich and apple sauce stuff on it, and there was a guy making homemade crisps. I won a little stuffed bird which I have decidedly named Pound, because he is a Great Britain Pecker. Or a GBP ^.^

This morning we went to the car boot sale. It was a little more than epic. I found the best thing ever! Do you want to see? Well you get to anyway :p

Yes that is what you may be thinking, its Starlight the horse from Rainbow Bright. I just couldn’t walk away from him.

After the car boot we went to a Rugby 7’s tournament. It was my first Rugby game ever and I had a blast. I got to see America play Kenya...it was like the 6th or 7th game we saw. They kicked our ass for a first bit, and then we caught up and eventually lost. What made it all the more fun was the guys in front of us kept turning around after cheering for Kenya and saying “sorry”.

Then later when Kenya was playing Wales, during half time we got to watch Batman. He stole out onto the field past security, grabbed the ball and ended up scoring. It was a really good laugh.

All in all today was a really good day, I learned a lot and I almost….almost like rugby better than football, however football still wins.
